LAMAS Working Group 7-8 December 2016
Item 3.3 Work organisation and working time arrangements Eurostat
2
Background LAMAS decided to introduce "Work organisation and working time arrangements" (AHM 2015) as repeated module to be conducted the first time in 2019 No changes should be made, only considering methodological problems that occurred during the implementation in 2015 Module was implemented in 2015 in Austria, Greece, Ireland, Luxemburg, Poland and Portugal No major problems were reported by those countries while conducting the module Eurostat
3
Comments received 75% of NSI agree in general on Guidelines for the module FREEHOUR and FREELEAVE: "short notice" will be replaced in the questions by the respective reference periods "family matters" kept in FREEHOUR and not added in FREELEAVE JOBAUTON: Detailed categories are only used for data transmission. The number of answer categories does not change. Question order can be kept because comparability to AHM2017 does not exist, anyhow. Found problems with filters and routing will be corrected Most comments concern RECHOURS, PLACEWK and OTHERLOC Eurostat

RECHOURS Task Force proposal
Is the number of hours you work recorded? Yes, hours are recorded No, only presence is recorded (3) No, nothing is recorded No Answer How are the hours you work recorded? (1) Automatically recorded (clocking system, log-in at computer) (2) Manually recorded by one-self (3) Recorded by colleague or supervisor (4) Other method Issues/Comments received: Old version was most problematic in test, especially overlapping categories need to revise For "only presence" also considering recording method? Should only be asked to employees Should be suitable for CATI, if answer categories are read out Question should be pretested Preferably, but seems to be feasible Eurostat

(1) Premises of company or organisation (2) Home (3) Clients' premises (4) Car or vehicle (5) In streets/ public spaces Working outside (6) Other No Answer Issues/Comments received: Should be pretested: If not possible AHM2015 version should be used Differentiation between regular and non-fixed clientele should be clarified Eventually simplify along the dimension fixed – non-fixed working place How to code people working outside? Eurostat
6
