Background REference Antarctic Data for Environmental Research
Recalculate monthly mean values from the original observations. Collect meta data for the stations.

Data received America Argentina
Surface data from Pole, Palmer and McMurdo received. Palmer data very poor. Gap exists in the dataset between 1988 and 1998. AWS data up to August 2000. All upper air data for South Pole and McMurdo received. Argentina No data received.
5
Australia All surface data received for Casey, Davis and Mawson until February 2001 then GTS data. AWS data until the end of 2002 then GTS data. All the upper air data until the end of 2003 and then GTS data. Chile No data received.
6
China France Germany Italy No data received.
All surface data received up until the end of 2001, then GTS data. Only GTS upper air data from present Germany All surface and upper air data received. Meta data has also been supplied Italy AWS data received up until the end of 1999 then GTS data. Upper air data to 1998 then GTS data.

Japan Korea New Zealand
Surface and upper air data received up to the end of 2000 then GTS data. Korea All data received and processed but King Sejong station only started in 1989. New Zealand No data received.

Future Work Re-calculate the trends now that all of the upper air data has been collected and quality controlled. Look for jumps in the data which may be linked to changes in the type of sonde used. Metadata about sonde types used will be needed for this. Look at decadal trends. Repeat the project but with ice core data.
