The background
New demands in IT collaboration
Creative solutions and burden-sharing are needed in statistical organisations to cope with limited resources;
Digital Entanglement: in the era of complex statistical information systems linked to related business processes, collaborative and standard solutions are required;
SISAI participants: experts on the border of IT and business architecture and / or one level below CIO;
Operating by virtual collaboration and working group
ITDG approved mandate of SISAI in Oct 2010

ITDG 2011 on SISAI
The need for this new group re-confirmed.
Information on on-going activities and exchange of good practices considered particularly useful.
SISAI was asked to
cover 'Principles of IT Architecture';
develop policy for storage, distribution and archiving statistical software within the ESS.

4. Main Conclusions from 2nd SISAI
Confirmation of need of information exchange
The participants welcomed the information session consisting of nine items with a wide spectrum of initiatives in the ESS and beyond. Need for annual repetition of such session was reconfirmed.
Agreed on next meeting scheduled in May 2013.

5. Principles of IT Architecture
Four presentations, coordination by the Enterprise Architecture function of Eurostat

6. Software sharing policy
SISAI created a task force operating mainly by virtual means to discuss
Overview (catalogue, ownership, responsibilities);
Life cycle steps (development, maintenance, roadmap, phase-out);
Distribution (advertising, prototypes, demo);
Documentation (guidelines, template, user support);
Certification of quality.
Five MS's participate: CZ, IT, NL, PT and SI (SAB observer); Eurostat to coordinate. Work started in November Second meeting beginning of December. Finalisation in winter

7. Future substantive items
Task force on Software sharing policy to produce final output for May 2013 SISAI
Continue working on Principles of IT Architecture
Information exchange on business architecture / IT initiatives in the official statistics community
Follow-up of relevant ESS projects
SISAI organising committee (FR, IT, NL, PL, SI, SE and Eurostat) to start preparing 3rd SISAI after ITDG
