The wall street crash The Wall Street crash is viewed as the most devastating stock market crash in American history and this led to the ‘Great Depression’ which lasted for 12 years and affected all western industries. The Wall Street crash happened in October 1929, on a Tuesday. A newspaper cover.

The great depression The Great Depression was the worst deepest depression of the 20th century It lasted for a whole decade At one point 1/3 of America was unemployed Some countries began to recover in the middle of the decade but for most countries they recovered after the start of World War II

The American dream James Truslow Adams "life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement" regardless of social class or circumstances of birth.” <- the American Dream, the American dream is a national ethos for the U.S. Which states that everybody should have an equal shot at wealth and prosperity no matter what their cultural background, beliefs, appearance (race) etc. Many immigrants from around the world heard of the American dream and came to America in search of what it promised.

Itinerant farm workers
Many immigrants moved to America in search of work during the great depression, although there was barely any, but they moved around the entire country looking for jobs. Many Americans themselves became itinerant and moved around like the immigrants.
