2 General Information VUMC has Adult and Pediatric CPR Teams
The teams are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and provide coverage for: VUH, VCH, MCN, MCE, TVC, MAB, LH, MRBI and MRBII All VUMC staff who are direct patient caregivers, are trained in BLS and Mock Code procedures

3 Requirement All students must have a current CPR card or provide evidence of recent completion of an approved BLS course Students must identify the correct emergency response plan for their specific work area

4 Situation 1 If you enter a room and discover a patient who is not breathing and/or does not have a pulse, you should Notify the responsible VUMC caregiver to report a stat and assist in the rescue effort as directed by staff Provide CPR

5 Situation 2 A VUMC employee asks you to call a code
You pick up the telephone and dial 11111, give the name of the building, name and general location of the practice/service area (not the room number) and if the patient is an adult or child) While the employee provides CPR, you locate the code cart, unplug the cart and bring it to the patients’ location Assist with CPR and rescue efforts as directed by staff

6 Emergency Carts There are several types of emergency carts located throughout the medical center. Examples of our emergency carts: Identify the location of the emergency carts in your area
