Decision-Making Skills: steps that enable you to make a healthful decision. 6 steps in the decision-making process: State the Situation List the options Weigh the possible outcomes Consider values Make a decision and act on it Evaluate the decision

Setting Personal Health Goals
Goal: something you aim for that takes planning and work. Effective way to build self-confidence, increase your self-esteem, and improve your overall health Consider your plans for the future, Do your plans include further education and building a family?

Types of Goals Every goal involves planning How much time
Short-term goal: a goal that you can reach in a short period of time. Examples: finishing a project by Friday, cleaning you room before dinner Long-term goal: a goal that you plan to reach over an extended period of time. Examples: improving your grades for the semester or making the softball team next year.

Achieving Your Goals Set specific goals
List the steps to reach your goal Identify sources of help and support Set a reasonable time frame Evaluate your progress Reward yourself
