Engineering of a Solution Validation of Proposed Solution Problem Definition:preliminary study towards proclaimed problems in field; preliminary research goal formulation; motivated by practical problems, based on statistical analysis, theoretical argumentation etc.; exploratory, experimental in nature; key prerequisite for repeatabilitx of research activities is that problem statement can be falsified extensive literature assessment to search for similar problems, investigate similar problems and proposed, scientifically validated solutions in the same or corrseponding domain (cross-fertilization of fields) Design solution: develop method (notation and process) and supporting test bed tools Validation: demonstrate logical consistency of solution, provide evidence for feasibility; illustrate approach on case study Assessment: relate acievements to reseach result and accept or refute hyposthesis wrapped in research goal Assessment of Research Results
