Pop Music Post Big Band Era
After the success of Big Band, and orchestra leaders like Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller, many up and coming jazz singers and composers used the formula of big band and jazz and began composing and singing a new kind of song called “The Standard” The songs were softer, romantic, but still had the elements of jazz and big band. This also opened up to their success in movies, the beginning of the film musical Let’s now go over the heavy hitters in the “Standard” era of music… These gentlemen are known as “The Crooners”
