BLT Meetings Generally the Second Tuesday of Each Month 3:45 – 4:30 PM 9/ Program Overview-Joint BLT/Mentor Meeting TPS :30 – 3:45 at TPS 9/ Program Overview-Joint BLT/Mentor Meeting TMS/LD :15 – 4:30 at TMS 9/ Program Overview-Joint BLT/Mentor Meeting THS/LD :15 – 4:30 at THS Paula Gaylord – Director of Beginning License Teacher *This is a required meeting for all BLT 1, 2 and 3 staff and mentors for an overview of the program and writing the PDP. All sessions will include the same content. BLTs and mentors may attend any session together. (Linked to Standard 5 – Reflecting on practice and linking professional growth) ___________________________________________________________________________________ 10/11 Classroom Management Tools :15 – 4:30 at LD Tricia Gladstone – PBIS Behavior Consultant Learn strategies for proactive classroom management. Both elementary and secondary perspectives will be included. (Linked to Standard 1 – Establishing a safe and orderly classroom)

Cate Gentry – Chief Officer of Curriculum and Instruction 11/ Matching Your Teaching to Your Learners :15 – 4:30 at TMS NC Beginning Teacher Support Program *This is a required meeting for all BLT 1 and 2 staff to review district lesson plan expectations including Tier 1 and Making Content Comprehensive strategies (Linked to Standard 3 – Aligning instruction with the NC Standard Course of Study and Tier 1 Strategy – Explicit Instruction) ____________________________________________________________________________________ 12/ Technology Support and Tech Tools 3:15–4:30 at TMS Jennifer Buck – Instructional Technology Learn how to use district instructional technology more efficiently to integrate it into lesson plans. Teachers will be surveyed to determine the specific needs. This will be a working session that can be used to create digital instructional materials. (Linked to Standard 4 – Integrating technology into instruction) 12/13 BLT 3 Only - Teach Like a Champion Book Study 3:15-4:30 at TMS Share strategies used from the Book Teach Like a Champion. Find out what is working in other classrooms. (Linked to Standard 4 – Facilitating Learning for students) __________________________________________________________________________ 1/ PDP Review and Midyear Completion with Mentor 2:30-3:45 a TPS 1/ PDP Review and Midyear Completion with Mentor 2:30-3:45 at LD 1/ PDP Review and Midyear Completion with Mentor 3:15-4:40 at TMS 1/ PDP Review and Midyear Completion with Mentor 3:15-4:30 at THS This session is required of all BLT 1, 2 and 3 staff to complete the PDP with all signatures. NC Beginning Teacher Support Program Learn effective ways to mange your time to accomplish all you have to do in the school setting. (Linked to Standard 4 – Planning effective instruction and assessment) ____________________________________________________________________________________ 3/ Erasing Behavior 3:15-4:30 at TMS Tricia Gladstone – PBIS Behavior Consultant Learn how to analyze student behavior and the motivation behind it. Create processes to replace those behaviors with new productive behaviors to help increase student success in the classroom. (Linked to Standard 1 – Establishing a safe classroom and Standard 4 – Adapting to meet student needs) ___________________________________________________________________________ 4/ Calming Strategies for Staff and Students/Celebrate Success 3:15-4:30 at TMS Sara Kramer – School Based Therapist Learn strategies to calm students and yourself in the classroom to ensure that you have an environment conducive to learning. Celebrate your accomplishments during the year! (Linked to Standard 4 – Establishing a respectful environment for learning) _____________________________________________________________________________________ 5/ Ending on a High Note- Summarization, Rejuvenation, :15-4:30 at TMS and Reflection Learn effective strategies to reflect on your year and plan for the future. 5 Professional Development Requirements
Professional development sessions are open to all BLT staff, mentors and new to system staff. ALL BLT staff (1, 2 and 3) attend: Program Overview and Initial PDP Session – September PDP Midyear Review Session – January __________________________________ BLT 1 – Attend the 3 required sessions and at least 4 others of your choice BLT 2 – Attend the 3 required sessions and at least 2 others of your choice BLT 3 – Attend the 2 required sessions and Teach Like a Champion Book Study 12/13/16 Excellence is the Standard
