1 Welcome! March 9th, 2018 Friday
Do Now Get out your weekly Bell Ringer sheet and begin working on Friday’s assignment. Once the bell rings, you will have five minutes to find and label the examples of figurative language. Remember: Do Now's are INDEPENDENT and QUIET exercises. Thank you 

2 as it flew into the stands.
© Presto Plans Read the paragraph below and find examples of metaphor, simile, onomatopoeia, personification, oxymoron and/or alliteration. By the third inning, the home team was in a fine mess. They were down by two runs, but they knew their savior came up to bat next. Antonio held the bat like it was an extension of himself. His laser eyes stared at the pitcher. The first pitch whizzed as it flew past home plate, and the umpire screamed, “Strike!” Antonio stood staring at second base wondering if Steven would steal. The pitcher readied himself for the second pitch. When it flew in, the crack of the bat sounded like lightning, and the ball screamed as it flew into the stands.

4 Hamlet: Socratic Seminar
IXL for the week: J.8 and K.1 Goals for the Day: Finish your prep notes for our Socratic seminar on Monday! Remember: These do not necessarily have to be in complete sentences – you can use bullet points if you like. However, you do need to respond to each part of the question in detail. For your two most compelling arguments, you need at least one piece of supporting textual evidence (direct quotes are preferred). That means your notes on each topic will need at least two supporting quotes. Good luck! 
