Flooring Materials Tongue and Groove flooring slots neatly together and is strong with no gaps. Traditionally done with softwood (Pine) flooring, but can now be done in other types of timber. Moisture resistant chipboard prevents rot. Ordinary chipboard is easily damaged by moisture which causes it to swell and break up.
