Powers, Bases and Exponents
Expanded Form
7
Example 1 Write the numerical expression as a power. 6 × 6 × 6 × 6 64
4 × 4 42 9 × 9 × 9 × 9 × 9 × 9 × 9 97
8
Example 2 Write each power in expanded form and find the value. 32
3 × 3 = 9 15 1 × 1 × 1 × 1 × 1 = 1 43 4 × 4 × 4 = 64
9
Exit Problems Write 5 × 5 × 5 × 5 as a power.
Write 43 in expanded form and find its value. Determine which power has the greater value: 16 or 22.
10
