2
Write each number in standard form
# 1-4 Multiplying a number by 10n, when n is positive, moves the decimal point n places to the right Multiplying a number by 10n, when n is negative, moves the decimal point n places to the left
3
Write each number in scientific notation
# 5-9 To write a number in scientific notation, determine the first factor. Then write the second factor as a power of 10. To write a number that is less than 1 in scientific notation, determine the first factor by moving the decimal point. Then write the second factor as a negative power of 10.
4
Write each expression using a single exponent
# 10-15 To multiply numbers or variables with the same base, add the exponenets Arithmetic Algebra 32· 37 = 3(2 + 7) = 39 am· an = a(m + n)
5
Simplify each expression
# 16-19 To divide nonzero numbers or variables with the same nonzero base, subtract the exponents
6
Multiply or divide. Write the answer in scientific notation
#20-22 Use the associative and commutative properties. Multiply or divide the first factors Add or subtract the exponents of the powers of 10 Write the new first factor in scientific notation Add or subtract the exponents
7
Simplify each expression
#23-28 Any nonzero number a, a0 = 1 #29-30 To raise a power to a power, you multiply the exponents
