Azure Makes Model-Based Test Automation and Risk Optimization Possible from the Cloud
MINI-CASE STUDY “Tricentis had a traditional fat client in a 100% Windows/Visual Studio environment. We looked for a PaaS/IaaS provider that would help to get Tosca Testsuite easily into the cloud. Microsoft Azure was the perfect fit.” – Michael Niessl, Engineering Manager, Tricentis MICROSOFT AZURE ISV: Tricentis GmbH WEB SITE: tricentis.com LOCATION: Vienna, Austria ORG SIZE: 200 MICROSOFT AZURE ISV PROFILE: Tricentis provides leading enterprise software testing solutions for Global 2000 companies. Its testing solutions empower organizations to systematically align software business needs in order to harness technology change while optimizing cost and efficiency. Tricentis enables organizations to achieve unprecedented automation rates while minimizing business-related risks on-premises and in the cloud. Read about other Microsoft Azure ISVs SITUATION Tricentis was looking for an “easy” way to provide cloud access with test automation capabilities to its fat client. It wanted to be the first and only to provide this service entirely in the cloud. This goal, however, was impossible to achieve in a traditional SaaS architecture, making it clear that it needed a full version of Windows virtual machines, but only at an attractive price point. SOLUTION Tricentis implemented Tosca Image Deployment, user and project management, as well as remote desktop browser accessibility powered by Microsoft Azure. The project takes advantage of Microsoft Azure’s Service Management REST API to orchestrate Virtual Machines, Cloud Services, Databases, Storage Accounts, and Virtual Networks. These Azure components are tightly integrated in Tricentis’ support portal and enable their customers to manage their Tosca as a Service projects on their own. BENEFITS Azure’s integration with Visual Studio is an enticing feature for Tricentis engineers and has helped to rapidly provide solutions. Microsoft Azure’s Service Management REST API has become key to implementing Tricentis’ approach.
