What do I need to do for summer reading?
Reading Plus! What do I need to do for summer reading?
3
Well … that depends. How many lessons?
4
Please explain … I don’t get it.
It’s a 100-point test grade. 50 points for your average comprehension score. 50 points for the number of combos you get. … Please explain … I don’t get it.
5
Uh … you should know what the comprehension score is.
But JUUUUUUST in case, It’s the average of the scores you earn on the questions you answer at the end of each passage. So how’s that work?
6
Let’s say your average for all the lessons over the summer is an 86%.
How many points is that out of 50? Okay …
7
Math lesson in English class, what?!
If you said 39, you’re right!!! Math lesson in English class, what?!
8
Just kidding! It’s 43. You sure about that?
9
Okay, so how do I get a grade on my combos?
# of Combos 100 12 90 10 80 8 70 6 Okay, so how do I get a grade on my combos? Let’s say you got 10 combos. That’s 90%, obviously. So that’s 45 points out of 50. Right?
10
Yeh, so what’s my grade? Okay, really hard math now.
You got 43 points for your comprehension. 86% of 50 … Yeh, so what’s my grade?
11
And 45 points for your combos.
90% of 50 So your grade is … Uh huh …
12
NOPE. is not 100. It’s 88. 100!
13
Yes. Didn’t we just go over this? So I got an 88?
14
Good question. I’ll tell you …
Okay, what’s a combo?
15
Pepperoni Pizza ones are the best.
These are combos. Pepperoni Pizza ones are the best. This guy thinks so, and so do I. I don’t care what you say.
16
Seriously, though. What are combos?
Okay, fine. Geez, I was just trying to be funny. A combo means you get 80% or higher on two lessons in a row. Seriously, though. What are combos?
17
Lesson 1: 82% Lesson 2: 78% Lesson 3: 84% So would this be a combo?
18
?
19
What if I get an 80% on the next one?
YEP. 84%, then 80% … that’s a You’ll see this symbol What if I get an 80% on the next one?
20
Yep. Depends on your scores.
Just gotta get those Oh. I get it now. That’s why you couldn’t tell me the number of lessons to do.
21
NOPE. Do I need to do vocab, too?
22
What if I’m finished with Reading Plus?
What do you mean? What if I’m finished with Reading Plus?
23
Uh, like, I did all the lessons.
That’s crazy! Uh, like, I did all the lessons.
24
Am I exempt? You’re funny.
25
So … is that a NO? You’re smart, too! Yeh, that’s a NO.
Talk to your teacher about your assignment. So … is that a NO?
26
Okay, what if I don’t have a way to DO Reading Plus over the summer?
What do you think? Okay, what if I don’t have a way to DO Reading Plus over the summer?
27
Talk to your teacher about your assignment.
Not exempt?
28
What if I get locked out of my lessons over the summer?
Okay … I know what you’re thinking. If I do badly on my lessons and I get locked out, I won’t have to finish! What if I get locked out of my lessons over the summer?
29
Uh … what? No, I wasn’t thinking that.
Yeh, you were. Admit it. Okay, so if you get locked out, you have to Mrs. Cook, ‘cause you still gotta get them combos! Uh … what? No, I wasn’t thinking that.
