The Ideal Op Amp Inverting and non-Inverting configurations
Chapter 5-1 The Ideal Op Amp Inverting and non-Inverting configurations
3
Op-amp schematic symbol and 8 pin IC
2 - + 3 6 Pins 1 and 5 Offset nulls Can be biased to help null voltage offsets Pin 2 Inverting input When used as input, produces an inverted signal at the op amp output. (or 1800 out of phase with input) Pin 3 Non-inverting input When used as input, produces a non-inverted signal at the op amp output. (or in phase with input) Pin 4 V- Connection for the negative power supply, typically calls for (-12) to (-15) volts Pin 6 Output Signal output Pin 7 V+ Connection for the positive power supply, typically calls for (12) to (15) volts Pin 8 NC Not used

- + The constant A is classified as the open loop gain (no feedback network) Ideal op-amp the open loop gain is defined as infinite in magnitude Actual gain not infinite and limited by its power source
5
Ideal Op-amp assumptions
+ The current entering the inverting and non-inverting input terminals are both equal to zero (the input impedance of an ideal op-amp is infinite) The difference between the voltages at the inverting input and the non- inverting input terminal is approximately equal to zero
