Čeprav je v if-stavku uporabljen navadni sedanjik, ta pogojnik v resnici govori o dejanju v prihodnosti, ki pa se bo uresničilo le, če bo izpolnjen dani pogoj. V slovenščini tako v pogojnem stavku kot glavnem uporabljamo prihodnjik.
