A project likes this helps the environment. It helps to reduce the buildings carbon footprint. So, from an environmental purpose, this program had appeal to me. But also, it helps the tenants. It helps keep their energy bills low. Its a boon to the community. Thats why I decided to help out. I feel good about it. - Tom Sheldon Volunteer Reflections

Im so excited about the success and what weve done. We got another award, from Virginia Cooperative Extension. Its a statewide, competitive award. It recognizes this program for excellence in a new initiative. Im so proud and happy for the participation in this years class and also to have so many people returning from the first years class who really gave a lot of effort. – Jennifer Abel, Virginia Cooperative Extension Partner Reflections: Virginia Cooperative Extension

Apartment Residents Reflections They [Arlington Energy Masters] didnt just make a difference for me and my home. Its making a difference in the world. Now, when I go to peoples apartments, I teach them. And, I ask them to tell their family members. What I show you, teach them. – Marilyn Rogers (former tenant served by AEM; now an Arlington Energy Master herself

Volunteer Reflections One of the things Ive got out of the program is the educational aspect…When I started, I didnt completely get that residents would be so receptive to learning about the efficiency changes. I didnt get that wed spark their interest in energy efficiency or water conservation. - Janine Bergin

The work that the [Arlington Energy Masters] program does is helping the community with reducing energy costs and bills. And, its helping to build a community. People helping people is fundamental to life…. What this community program is doing really hits both the energy efficient buildings and energy education and behavior [components of the Arlington CEP]. These are equally important. Its raising the communitys energy literacy which is really important. Energy is this invisible thing that we cant see. But if people learn that, wow, there are people who care about this, people who can make me more comfortable and cut my bills…its a good thing. - John Morrill, Arlington County Energy Masters 18 Partner Reflections: Arlington County
