Figure 4 Algorithm depicting the management of patients after liver transplantation Figure 4 | Algorithm depicting the management of patients after liver transplantation. This algorithm was developed based on findings discussed in this Review and the authors' experience. Risk factors in hyperlipidaemia are cigarette smoking, hypertension (BP >140/90 mmHg or on antihypertensive medication), low HDL cholesterol (<1.0 mmol/l), family history of premature heart disease (male first-degree relative <55 years, female first-degree relative <65 years), age (men >45 years; women >55 years). HDL cholesterol >1.5 mmol/l counts as a 'negative' risk factor; its presence removes one risk factor from the total count. *Per general population guidelines. Abbreviations: AAA, abdominal aortic aneurysm; ACEi, angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitor; CVA, cerebral vascular accident; CVD, cardiovascular disease; FPG, fasting plasma glucose; GFR, glomerular filtration rate; HbAIC, glycated haemoglobin A1C; LDL, low density lipoprotein; OSA, obstructive sleep apnoea; PVD, peripheral vascular disease; RF, risk factors.
