BASIC INFORMATION Classification - Domain: Bacteria
- Phylum: Spirochaetae (double-membrane bacteria, long and spiral-shaped cells) Location of Flagella (axial filaments) - distinguished from other bacterial phyla - run lengthwise between the bacterial inner membrane and outer membrane Undergo Asexual reproduction Most are free-living and anaerobic Chemoheterotrophic in nature

SPIROCHETES DISEASE infection with a type of bacteria which is often found in mud, and polluted water Infectious Disease (O) Genetic Disease (X) Some of this disease are spread easily between people, while others are transmitted by a pathogenic organism (viruses, bacteria, fungi, worms, parasites)

SPIROCHETES DISEASE - SYMPTOMS
- muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, blood in urine, breathing problems, etc - rat bite fever: acute, febrile human illness (caused by bacteria that is transmitted by rats)

TREATMENT & PREVENTION OF SPIROCHETES INFECTION
Penicillin drug of choice in the treatment of syphilis. Less effective in the late stages of disease ( because irreparable damage had already been sustained)
