Literary Terms Primary Source – a firsthand account
Examples: a speech, an autobiography, a letter Directly expresses the thoughts and feelings of a writer Expresses only one viewpoint. May be biased or knowledge may be limited

Examples: history books, biographies, textbooks, encyclopedias Person writing the information did not participate in the event May be more objective than primary sources. May be based on several viewpoints
