1 Warm Up – May 9 Grab two answer sheets DBQ: Concerns –
Grouping – if you struggle with grouping, try first but if you can’t get it - just go through each document and describe, support, explain Support – if you are worried about supporting the doc (relating it back to the question) – just start every document by stating “Doc 1 argues the Soviets started the Cold War because..” - this will make you relate it back to the document. POV and Purpose (Explain) – Think of these as the same thing – POV is for primary sources and Purpose is for secondary – but you are explaining what the author was trying to accomplish by writing what they did Timing – you have no time to space out or to not being either reading the docs or writing

2 DBQ Practice – Who Started the Cold War?
Doc 1 argues that the Soviets started the Cold War as it shows that Winston Churchill believed the Soviets had created an Iron curtain dividing eastern and western Europe. This division was caused by the Soviet influence over satellite nations. Churchill is showing that the Soviet desire to take over these nations has led to a division between communist and non-communist nations. Doc 4 also puts blame on the Soviets by illustrating the Soviet response to NATO was to form the Warsaw Pact, which increased division and tensions between communist and non-communist nations. Document 5 supports this argument that the Soviets are to blame as they used Cuba, a country close to the US, to place missiles and intimidate the US.
