Key Vocabulary Blank verse: a category of poetry based on unrhymed lines and a definite meter, usually of iambic pentameter Meter: the number of stressed and unstressed syllables in a line of poetry Iambic pentameter: a line of poetry that includes 5 meters (2 syllables each); ie. Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, Verse poetry: poetry that has both a consistent meter and a rhyme scheme

Iambic Pentameter Iamb: the first syllable is stressed and the second is unstressed Foot: every two syllables Pentameter is five feet in a line (10 syllables) It is the rhythm of the heart 7:53-9:44
