2 Reflection Prompt: Write 3 facts that you know about Evolution

3 Who first proposed the Theory of Evolution?
Darwin

4 What is Evolution? Gradual change in a species over time through a process of natural selection.

5 Why would finches have different types of beaks?
Finches that ate insects had sharp, needlelike beaks Finches that ate seeds had strong wide beaks

6 Why would iguanas have different color skins?
Because they need to adapt to different conditions. Green Iguanas live in the jungle and Marine Iguanas live on rocks.

7 What is Natural Selection?
The process by which individuals that are better adapted to their environment are more likely to survive and reproduce than other members of the same species

8 Which Beetle is most likely to survive?

9 What are the factors that affect the process of natural selection?
Overproduction Competition Variations Selection

10 When does a new species form?
A new species can form when a group of individuals remains separated from the rest of its species long enough to evolve different traits.

11 Did humans evolve from chimpanzees?
NO Humans did not evolve from chimpanzees. Humans and chimpanzees are evolutionary cousins and share a recent common ancestor that was neither chimpanzee nor human. Humans are not "higher" or "more evolved" than other living lineages.

12 Can evolution be described as a tree or a ladder?
