If I stole one leaf would it make much difference to the tree?
What if over time I kept stealing leaves from the tree?

This week is Anti-Bullying Week.
Bullying has been defined as
“Repeated actions that defame, harass, intimidate or upset another person over a period of time.”
The image of the tree may help us think about the effects of bullying.

5. People may bully or experience bullying in a number of different ways.

People may bully or experience bullying in a number of different ways.
When people bully or are bullied it may be like repeatedly stealing leaves from the tree.
The act of bullying steals something from the person bullying and the one being bullied.

The effects of bullying do not just impact those directly involved but can begin to rob a community of Hope, Kindness, Courage, Integrity, Trust, Respect, Responsibility.
Church leader Martin Luther King once said “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
We all have a responsibility to put a stop to bullying by upholding our school values.
