3 Annexes The word “annex” is defined as an added stipulation, statement, or subordinate info, especially to a document. In the context of emergency management, annexes are added to EOPs to describe operations for a particular function Annexes are action oriented Definition from Merriam Webster

4 Annexes assign specific areas of responsibility during a response
These are detailed in three types of Annexes: Emergency Support Function Annexes Support Annexes Incident Annexes 3 types-examples given on next 3 slides, do NOT stop here to discuss, stop on each of the next 3 slides instead.

8 Appendices An “appendix” is defined as supplementary material at the end of a document, usually of an explanatory, statistical, or bibliographic nature Appendices provide additional general and supporting information, including terms, definitions, acronyms, maps, etc. Definition paraphrased from dictionary

9 Appendices Appendices may also be attached to functional Annexes and should have sections corresponding to those in the Annex for which supplementary hazard- specific information is required “an appendix to an annex”

10 Annexes & Appendices Are often overlooked tools in EOP development
Allow for endless augmentation of the base plan Provide quicker, easier reference for specific hazards
