Rate your neighbor’s paper on a scale of 1-3 based on the following: 1—the introduction does not capture the reader’s attention, does not answer the prompt, and/or is missing key components of the HIT method 2—the introduction is on topic but is not particularly interesting and is missing no more than one key component of the HIT method 3—the introduction grabs the reader’s attention, answers the prompt, and includes ALL components of the HIT method

4 Key Features of the Body Paragraph
Topic sentence Supporting sentences Concluding or transition sentence What does this sound like?

5 Topic Sentence This is the CLAIM.
The topic sentence should relate directly back to your thesis statement and should be one of the SUPPORTS for your thesis statement.

6 Supporting Sentences This is where you CITE evidence to support your topic sentence (claim). MAKE SURE YOUR EVIDENCE IS DIRECTLY FROM THE ODYSSEY!

7 Concluding or Transition Sentence
This is your CLARIFYING statement that explains how your supporting sentence relates to your topic sentence.

Navigate from group to group as much as possible to advise. Allow groups to collaborate as needed; however, clarify that writing should NOT be identical or even have the same content. Conduct one-on-one conferencing as much as possible. Some students may need to come to intervention on Friday to finish their writing and get final feedback before submitting drafts for grading.
