1 Project 9: Investigating User Benefits and Risks Associated with IoT Use REU Student: Joseph Prause Graduate mentors: Arup Ghosh and Neda Hajiakhoond Faculty Mentor(s): Dr. Wisniewski and Dr. Turgut Week 6 (June 23– June 30, 2017) Accomplishments: Researched and created notification generation code so caretakers can receive information about how patient’s health. Working with Android Services so notifications can occur without application being open, thus allowing for a more useful system Issues and Problems Data retrieval is directly linked to fragment system through LoaderManager. Had to recreate loader within a service. Service crashes on load. Currently troubleshooting error to see why these crashes occur. Seems to be improper initiation of service. Since data loading is connected to fragment system, I need to plan how to transition from Fragments to dashboard without losing current data retrieval system or redesign the fragment system to be more user friendly. Plans for next week: Finish GUI to be more user friendly. NSF REU Research Experience on Internet of Things 2017
