Major Details Morning of December 25-26, 1776 Occurred in Trenton, New Jersey Hessians were hired by the British to help fight during the Revolution. They crossed the frozen Delaware river over-night.

Major Details (Cont.) The Hessians were intoxicated (drunk) when the Americans attacked Americans – 2 casualties 5 wounded (the casualties were due to frostbite from falling into the river) Hessians - 22 casualties, 83 wounded, and captured. 2,400 American troops with 18 guns. 1,400 Hessians with 6 light guns. The battle was a resounding physical and moral victory for Washington and his American troops.

George Washington and his troops gained confidence. It inspired a lot of people to join the army and support the cause. It was a critical victory because they have been losing a lot. Causes They lost the Battle of Long Island and Washington was desperate to turn things around
