Coping Resources A sets of factors (internal & external) will aid you in meeting daily life demand in a resilient manner It can be material (physical or social) and/or psychological possessed by person. Coping used to manage, reduce, eliminate stress

Types of Coping Resources
Personal coping Affluent, healthy, capable, optimistic more resourceful Perceived competence is crucial 2. Social coping Social support can assist coping 3. Cognitive – belief system 4. Values 5. Religion 6. Monetary 7. Good neighbors * We can identify coping resources using Coping Resourece Inventory (CRI)

Coping Strategies Any effort, positive or negative that we perform to reduce stress level felt or to manage stressors. Have a good coping resource but don’t have strategy, there is higher tendency will not be able to manage stress effectively

Managing the problem causing stress Governing emotions relating to those stressor

2. Active vs avoidant coping 3. Task, emotion vs Avoidant oriented

Coping Behavior Protect people from being psychologically harmed by problematic social experiences Serves a protective function : - by eliminating or modifying stressful condition By perceptually controlling the meaning of the stressor - By keeping emotional consequences in bounds
