1. Year 10Y Easter homework due Monday 13th April
Task: plan what you are going to talk about in your S&L exam, in detail.
You will hand in 2 things: your mind map and the notes you have made under each heading
HELPFUL HINTS:
Have enough to say. You need to be able to talk for 4 minutes. If you have planned things to say, it’s easy to do this.
Choose a topic that will allow you to talk in detail. Talking about car engines is quite limiting; talking about formula one is – potentially – much better as there is more to talk about.
Choose a topic that you genuinely have an passion for.
Ideas for good topics:
Why sexism / racism / ageism still exists
Poverty
Global Warming
Bullying in 21st century schools
If I could change one thing…
Of Mice and Men
Favourite sports team / band / artist / book
How to do it:
Decide your topic
Make a mind map of it
Do some research to find out more
Decide on 4 or 5 sub headings within your topic
Make lots of notes for each heading – you will
need to talk about each heading for about 1 minute, so
have enough to say.
