2 Student Planner September 26 Place this in the proper place
All make up work for triad 1 due this Friday

3 Write the answer to answer the previous day’s Essential Question:
Place the states of matter in ascending and descending order based on energy content. 4

4 Write your Summary on the previous class notes.
Review of last class Passed back graded work. Reviewed hand gestures. Graded planners. Notes on states of matter. Received assignment making S of M poster. Write your Summary on the previous class notes. 3

5 Quick Lab Instructions
Measure various containers, measure out water, and switch from one container to another. Return the water to the graduated cylinder and re read the volume. Make conclusions about liquids.

6 Compare and contrast solids and liquids.

21 HOMEWORK Grade improvement for triad 1 is due Friday. SLC folder – use your sci notebook – take it to SLC Thursday. 15

22 Notes – States of matter
Today’s Work Pass back past work Notes – States of matter Follow along reading in text book chapter 3.1 Page 58 Work on poster rough draft

23 Solid has constant shape and volume
53 121 Standard 3: structure of matter EQ: What is the difference in the movement of atoms in a solid, liquid and gas? Questions: States of Matter has constant shape and volume Properties: 1. molecules do not move about. 2. Vibrate in place. 3. two basic types of molecule arrangement - amorphous, crystal Solid

24 4. - no definite shape or volume
53 121 Standard 3: structure of matter EQ: What is the difference in the movement of atoms in a solid, liquid and gas? Questions: States of Matter no definite shape or volume Properties: 1. molecules are independent 2. Freely moving 3. Gas is a poor electrical conductor. Gas

26 Today – Working individually, use color pencils and drawing tools if possible. You will be drawing and coloring a poster using the previous posters as examples. Many of them do not show all stages of matter, and will need to be improved in your poster.

27 States of Matter posters
Make sure your poster shows all 4 states of matter. Correct errors in the posters shown. Fill your paper completely with the drawing. You may collaborate with others – one does lettering, one does drawing. You have an idea on how to do this? Great! Do your own design Do a rough draft to insure you meet all requirements Mr. V will provide poster paper. You can do it at home Due October 5 – points lost for being late.
