Seeds -Plants have many parts. -The seed is put into the ground
-water is added -roots start sprouting. Plants: (Optional definition): Any of various photosynthetic, eukaryotic, multicellular organisms of the kingdom Plantae characteristically producing embryos, containing chloroplasts, having cellulose cell walls, and lacking the power of locomotion. Sprouting: To begin to grow; give off shoots or buds.
3
Plants And Its Parts After the roots take up enough nutrients, or food, a stem begins to grow. The stem connects the different parts of the plant and sprouts leaves. With enough sunlight and water, a flower pops out of the stem. Nutrients: any of the mineral substances that are absorbed by the roots of plants for nourishment. Stem: A slender stalk supporting or connecting another plant part, such as a leaf or flower. Leaves: A usually green, flattened, lateral structure attached to a stem and functioning as a principal organ of photosynthesis and transpiration in most plants. Flowers: The reproductive structure of some seed-bearing plants, characteristically having either specialized male or female organs or both male and female organs, such as stamens and a pistil, enclosed in an outer envelope of petals and sepals. Absorb: To take (something) in through or as through pores or interstices. flower bud: if you please.

What Do Plants Need to Grow?
Water Sunlight Soil Nutrients Water and Sunlight: (you could further talking about how these help the plants gain more nutrients by helping the soil become more fertile). Nutrients: ( Can be replace with other words like: food for the plant, or a snack for the plant).
5
Different kind of Seeds
Plant seeds come in all sorts of sizes: large like a basketball or small like a marble. An apple’s seeds are tiny, but the avocado’s seed is huge. Different fruits, like strawberries, carry their seeds on the outside. on this side you could bring in some seeds of your own and show the class the different types of seed. Fruits: (the ripened ovary of a flowering plant, containing one or more seeds. It may be dry, as in the poppy, or fleshy, as in the peach).
6
Movement of Seeds Seeds need to be scattered- spread around the ground. Wind is one way seeds travel. ex. A dandelion’s seeds are picked up and blown away. Scatter: To cause to separate and go in different directions. (feel free to change any def or words in the powerpoint). Also could talk about the different seeds and their way of spreading like dandelion’s seed (floret) and how its designed to get picked up by the wind. Pollinating: (you add this word ):
7
Movement of Seeds Another way for seeds to scatter is water.
ex. A coconut A coconut floats! It is hollow and only has coconut juice and a little meat. Coconuts move across the ocean to different islands and grow there. talk about other fruit or seed that uses the ocean or water to spread the seeds. Hollow: Having a cavity, gap, or space within.
8
Movement of Seeds Seeds can also be scattered by animals.
They attach their seed to the animal and get a free ride. Hummingbirds and bees pollinate by taking the pollen from flowers and spreading it around the ground. Pollinate: convey pollen to or deposit pollen on (a stigma, ovule, flower, or plant) and so allow fertilization.

Living things On Earth there is more than a million animals, and they all have habitats, or homes, which they live in. Each Habitat has something unique or special about them. Many animals share certain habitats and this is called Biodiversity, when different animals live in the same place. Biodiversity: Biological diversity, or the shorter "biodiversity," (bio-di-ver-si-ty) simply means the diversity, or variety, of plants and animals and other living things in a particular area or region. Unique: being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else. Habitats: A habitat is an ecological or environmental area that is inhabited by a particular species of animal, plant, or other type of organism.
