3 Parts of the Project: The Research
Topic selection and Research Question: This part of the project is difficult if you procrastinate. So: Start thinking about topic right now Get on the interwebs and browse Make sure you can access your account at KCLS. You will need actual physical books (not e-books) that may will not be in our library (note you cannot check books out of the Skyline library). You can access the King County Library system on the web and get books delivered to your local library. This is a huge time-saver. Access all the resources/databases in our Skyline Library Get the basic information from encyclopedias first, just to get started: BUT note, encyclopedias and Encarta, etc. do not count for works cited & really should not be used in the final essay.

4 Parts of the Project: The Process
Note Cards -- you will be required to document your research with note-cards (50) & source-cards (8). There is a prescribed format – either electronic or by hand, pick one and go with it. Working Thesis -- you will create multiple drafts of your thesis throughout the process. Please check out the Preliminary Topic Selection & TRS handout! Outlines & Drafts -- several drafts of your thesis, outlines, and overall paper will be evaluated by peers and possibly teachers during this process. Analyze Sources (OPVL) & Works Cited – you will complete an analysis of all your sources and create a properly formatted works cited, incorporating the sources you actually use in your paper (Note: not a bibliography).
