Literacy and English Reading, Writing, Talking and Listening will be covered weekly within Primary 3. Reading: Pupils will read a range of text including reading books, extracts from newspapers, variety of novels and non-fiction texts. Writing: In P3 your child will continue to develop their writing skills in a variety of contexts. Such as; Imaginary stories, Instructions, Reports etc. Talking and Listening: Covered across the curriculum and through skills focused lessons.

Numeracy and Mathematics
The children will spend time daily on oral numeracy and mental maths. We use active learning approaches, published materials and concrete teaching materials. Children also complete a daily maths warm up focusing on different areas of numeracy each day.

Health and Wellbeing PE Days
P3a : Monday & Wednesday (indoor) Friday (outdoor) P3b : Wednesday & Friday (indoor) Thursday (outdoor) Please ensure children have adequate outdoor clothing, it is Scotland after all! Weekly assembly - Children have the opportunity to share achievements GIRFEC – Getting It Right For Every Child

Homework Your child has homework every day from Monday to Thursday.
Please sign your child’s homework. We hope the homework diary helps explain what has to be completed. Pupils will have spelling, mental maths and reading. In P3 we use Active Spelling, which is a multi sensory approach to spelling. We as teachers are trying to meet the learning needs of all pupils in our class. We hope this is something your child will enjoy working on throughout the year.

How you can help… Please remind your child to:-
Bring a water bottle to school Remember their PE kit Complete their homework Always speak to ourselves if there are any issues in class or in the playground
