4 E-GOVERNMENT: AN OVERVIEW
e-government is the use of information technology in general, and e- commerce in particular, to provide citizens and organizations with ore convenient access to government information and services and to provide delivery of public services to citizens, business partners, and those working in the public sector. It is also an efficient and effective way of conducting government business transactions with citizens and businesses and within governments themselves. Categories: Government to Citizens (G2C) Government-to-Business (G2B) Government-to-Government (G2G) Government-to-Employees (G2E) and Internal Efficiency and Effectiveness (IEE) ISM 41113, Electronic Commerce

5 E-GOVERNMENT: Government-to-Citizens (G2C)
Involves all of the interactions between a government and its citizens that can take place electronically. The major areas of activities are research and education, downloadable forms, discovery of government services, information about public policy, etc. Renew driver’s licenses, Pay taxes, receive payments documents, and so forth Electronic Voting: an election system that allows a voter to record his or her secure and secret ballot electronically. Electronic Benefit Transfer: an electronic system that allows state welfare departments to issue benefits via a magnetically encoded payment card, used in the United States and the United Kingdom. 6 E-GOVERNMENT: Government-to-Business (G2B)
E-government category that includes interaction between governments and businesses. Government selling to business and providing them with services and businesses selling products and services to government. The relationship is two way; G2B and B2G Government E-Procurements: governments purchase maintenance, repair and operations items, materials and services from businesses through the Internet as well as other information and networking systems, such as electronic data interchange. Forward E-Auctions: Governments auction equipment surpluses or other goods and vehicles. These auctions are now moving to the Internet. These can be done using government web sites or they can use third-party auction sites such as ebay.com ISM 41113, Electronic Commerce

7 E-GOVERNMENT: Government-to-Government (G2B)
Consists of e-commerce activities between units of government, including those within one governmental body. It is the electronic sharing of data and/or information systems between government agencies, departments or organizations. The goal of G2G is to support e-government initiatives by improving communication, data access and data sharing. Many of these are aimed at improving the effectiveness or the efficiency of the government. ISM 41113, Electronic Commerce

8 E-GOVERNMENT: Government-to-Employees (G2E), Internal Efficiency and Effectiveness (IEE)
G2E is a category that includes activities and services between government units and their employees. Applications in this G2E category are especially useful in enabling efficient communication. Another category is IEE; this is an internal initiative that provides tools for improving the effectiveness and efficiencies of government operations, and the processes are basically intrabusiness applications implemented in government units. 10 M-Government Mobile Government is the wireless implementation of e- government mostly to citizens but also to businesses. It uses wireless infrastructure and devices, and enables the government to reach a larger number of citizens. ISM 41113, Electronic Commerce

12 Social Media Refers to online platforms and tools that people use to share opinions, experiences, insights, and perceptions with each other. It can take many forms including text, images, audio, or video. Consumer generated media. It is media that is designed to be shared, sharing means that it is easy to comment on, that it is easy to send, there are no costs associated with viewing the media and last but not least it is always available. 14 Social Networking and Social Commerce
Social Networking is the use of communities to engage with others: Facebook, Myspace, LinkedIn, Twitter. Social Networking sites often include social media tools to facilitate the interaction and conversation. Social Commerce is the delivery of e-commerce activities and transactions through social networks and/or via Web 2.0 software. ISM 41113, Electronic Commerce
