Overview To honor the memory of Professor G. Kenneth Nelson who founded the Accounting Club in 1950 To recognize those who completed the membership requirements To network with professionals from accounting firms, industrial companies and government agencies

Networking tips Arrive early: helps to get you settled, strike up a conversation before it gets overwhelming Find a board member or someone else you know: get “warmed up” and maybe someone can introduce you to a recruiter Generate questions beforehand: does not have to be about the company/job, keeps conversation rolling, show interest in what they have to say Get a business card: make sure to follow up Talk about your involvement on campus or try to find a common interest Relax and be yourself

Dinner etiquette Introduce yourself to everyone at the table prior to the meal, remember names and be friendly Your silverware and cup will be on the right side of your plate Eat slowly and in manageable bites to avoid any spilling onto clothes- napkin on lap! CHEW WITH YOUR MOUTH CLOSED Stay off your phone as much as possible Push your chair in, if you must get up during the meal Good posture looks very professional Avoid controversial topics (i.e. the election, religious views etc..) “Please” and “Thank you” are important
