3 Support Plan After school tutoring: (availability marked on calendar outside of my classroom door). All assignments are posted on my website: mahollandela.weebly.com

4 English III (Honors) Pacing Guide
We are currently 3 weeks into our current unit “Coming of Age” texts: This unit features poetry, historical texts, short stories, as well as supplemental videos. All of the texts have been selected to have students analyze the effect of adolescents as they shift into adulthood. Next week we will have our first formal assignment. We will also have a end of unit assessment after the first 6 weeks.

5 AP Literature and Composition
The first text we are focusing on is “A Farewell to Arms,” by Ernest Hemingway. Students are guided to considering how diction, syntax, and tone effect the development of a text. Students will also be given regular informal and formal assessments to prepare them for the AP Lit Exam. The second text we will be dissecting is “Beloved,” by Toni Morrison.

6 Class Structure We feel, as a team, fell that one of the keys to student success is a well- structured class environment. Every class will consist of the following: A Daily Writing Prompt (usually a quote that connects thematically to the lesson for the day) A Silent Sustained Reading Program (designed to build students’ reading stamina) The daily lesson designed through gradual release of responsibility (“I do, We do, You do) Exit Ticket
