Fun and various activities for February will include Fitness testing and competitive sports challenges. Each student will learn the importance of being a good sport, making exercise as a part of their daily lives, and attempt to get their families more involved in physical activities at home. A special note from the teachers!
KC Greeting Parents; Math: we are recognizing the numbers 1-100; learning to count by 2’s, 5’s, 10’s; we are adding and subtracting numbers. Reading: learning to read and recognize more high-frequency words; reading by ourselves in groups. ELA: writing complete sentences and learning correct punctuation. Social Studies and Science: learning about our planet Earth, and how we can make it better. -Ms. Taylor 1A Hello Parents; Reading we will identify the details that support the main idea of a paragraph, identify and isolate consonant digraphs, and identify/use root words. Spelling: we will spell single syllable words that end in f, l or s. English Language Arts: we are working on punctuation (periods after initials and commas), nouns and adjectives Thank you for all your support, -Ms. McDowell 1B Math: we will learn about money, graphs, and number relationships up to 120. Social Studies: we will learn about timelines and things that happened in the past. Science: we will continue learning about weather, seasons, and the solar system. Ms. Felts 2A Happenings in second grade: Reading: Vocabulary in context ELA: Plural Nouns and Verbs Math: Time and Money Science: Weather/ Season and changes that occur Social Studies: Learning about the past/Research inquiries -Ms. Carson 3A Grade Hello Parents, Tutoring has returned for the third grade. We are constantly working on STAAR strategies to improve our scores. Our Strategies continue to be CUBES for math and PLORE for reading. Cubes- Circle the number, U-underline the question, B-Box the key words, E-Eliminate unnecessary information, S-solve by showing your work. PLORE for reading is P-, predict and circle the title, L-locate information, O-organize by paragraph and line, R-read, reread, and read again, E-eliminate and evaluate. This month we are having a class store to reinforce our knowledge of counting money and identifying different denominations of bills and coins. -Ms. McLaurin Hello Parents! This month we are working on identifying and reading the ABC’s in Pre-K, and the commonly seen words in K-3rd Grade. 2nd-3rd has begun discussing and learning to read vocabulary they see in their assignments and tests. We will share what kinds of things we do with our friends . We will work on our writing skills, including simple sentence. 2nd-3rd are identifying main idea and details and learning to summarize what they read. Each week we will also look at a book and predict what’s happening before we read it. -Mr. Bryan Pre-K A, B and C Greeting Parents, Pre-K students have learned a lot but, we are not done yet!! Math: learning to do simple addition and subtraction. ELA: Learning to rhyme and blend. YEA !! -Mrs. Pleasant -Ms. Saulsberry -Mrs. Powers KA Hello Parents, The class is working on the following: Reading: The students are on the letter Cc and learning how to sequence stories by putting what comes first, next and last. Language: We are continuing to work on blending, ending sounds and rhyming. Spelling: We are reviewing sight words and adding new words to our word wall. Math: We continue to count by tens using 10 frames and also reviewing ordinal numbers. Science: We are learning how to make and read simple weather picture graphs. Social Studies: We are learning how to treat and respect others. -Ms. Boyd Greetings Parents from KB Reading: we are reading and writing our sight words and high frequency words in complete sentences! Social Studies: we are learning about the calendar and the significant days on the calendar and in the months to come! Language Arts: we are learning ten sight words a week instead of five! We are also adding new words to our word wall! -Ms. Shead
