Call Numbers For all Nonfiction books
A “Call number” is a group of numbers and a letter after it. Lets a librarian know where to put a book, and lets YOU know where to find it! Located on “spine” of each book Examples: D, T, 001 A, 222.3 F *Think of it as a book’s “phone number” to “call” it Note: Can also think of it as a book’s address; where the book “lives” on the shelves 12/2/2018 S. Biographies B Kennedy B Anthony B Bonaparte H
Unlike the other sections, this one doesn’t have numbers, just the letter “B” and then the famous person’s last name. For example: B Kennedy B Anthony Note: There will usually be a letter after the subject’s last lame, that is the first letter of the last name of the author of the book itself. Note: should be able to find biographies after 900’s Note: Some Libraries use 92 to designate biographies B Bonaparte H 12/2/2018 S. Cagno - ILS SCSU

Now that you have an idea how it works…..
You’re going to use the Dewey Decimal System to find clues that are hidden all over the library, which lead to a “buried treasure” - GOOD LUCK!! Note: and remember, if you ever need help, don’t be afraid to ask the librarian – that’s what we’re here for! 12/2/2018 S. Cagno - ILS SCSU
