, Medi-Cal Under-Funding Crisis/Cost Shift Medi-Cal uncompensated care in hospitals exceeds $8 billion a year Private payer Medicare Medi-Cal Cost of Providing Care and Services The chronic and severe under funding of government programs creates a cost shift to the commercial market. Government funding will continue to worsen and the cost shift will grow. 2020

Medi-Cal Funding and Accountability Act Extends current law – Appx $4 billion a year for Medi-Cal patients Locks in protections for hospitals and maintains the “delicate balance” of fee/payment formulas Program “right-sizes” every year to fill gap of Medi-Cal losses Prohibits Legislature from taking more than what has been agreed to (24%) CHA SPONSORED - QUALIFED
