Main Idea All living organisms are limited by factors in their environment. We are limited by temperature We need certain clothing types We need certain types of housing (shelter) What about food??? What types of food do we eat that is NOT assessable in other states or other countries. Try to image our resources without importing/exporting

Main Ideas Constantly changing communities of plants and animals drive a process called succession. Limiting factors and Ranges of Tolerance are factors that determine where terrestrial biomes and aquatic ecosystems exist.

Community Lets Review – A community is a group of interacting populations that occupy the same area at the same time. What are populations? One single species of organisms that share the same geographic location at the same time.

Limiting Factors Even humans are limited like all other organisms by factors in our environment. Anything that restricts the number of organisms, reproduction and distribution of organisms is considered a limiting factor. Limiting Factors can be both: Abiotic Biotic

Abiotic Factors How do the non-living factors impact organisms?
Sunlight Climate Temperature Water Nutrients Fire Soil Chemistry Space

Biotic Factors How do living things impact organisms?
Disease in populations Predation from organisms Native or Invasive species

Range of Tolerance Range of Tolerance - Is affected by both abiotic and biotic factors. Tolerance means – the ability to survive in conditions that are not perfect. Temperature we have a range we can survive in 60 – 100 degrees Fahrenheit Upper Limit - 100 Lower Limit - 60
