Communications Action Card for Trusts receiving suspected Ebola cases
Clinical process Communications process Patient admitted and assessed using algorithm and consultation with Imported Fever Service. Trust on-call Director alerts Trust Communications QUESTION Is this a highly probable case? And/ or 2. Is there either current or potential for significant media interest? Samples sent for lab testing at Porton Down. YES NO 12 hours or more IF YES TO EITHER QUESTION Trust comms will alert regional local NHS England comms who will escalate to national NHS England comms team accordingly. IF NO TO BOTH QUESTIONS Issue remains under review but NOT escalated. Ebola negative Ebola confirmed REFER TO THE HIGHLY PROBABLE/ CONFIRMED CHECKLIST NOTES: Significant media interest means potential to be a national story. Trusts should only issue reactive holding lines once agreed with the local NHS England comms team Patient transferred to ‘surge trust’
