Be sure you use evidence from the text to support your responses. What is significant (important- what does it show) about the airplane incident in the opening pages of the story? Why is Jonas apprehensive about the upcoming Ceremony? How are Assignments determined in the community? Why does the community value ‘precision of language’? What are the different ways the community views ‘release’? Explain the role of Birthmother in Jonas’s community. How is conformity encouraged in the community? What is the purpose of the telling of feelings? Why didn’t Jonas share the incident involving the apple with his family at the telling of feelings session that evening? How are the elderly treated in Jonas’s community?

If you do not have anything to read, you can checkout a book from the classroom library. If you have reading that you need to do from another class, this would be a great time to do it! You are welcome to work on your Reading Performance Task/Evidence of Reading for your ELA class. At the end of class, please complete the online exit ticket.
