1 Tuesday 4/25/17 Notebook Entry: The graphic below shows the temperature change throughout the day yesterday. What is causing the temperature to rise during the day? Why does the temperature start to decrease after 7pm? (Hint: Think back to when we studied the atmosphere. What process heats the air?)

2

3 Month with the longest days?
Month with shortest days?

4 What are the limitations with this model of the Earth and Sun?

5 Seasons Diagram Trace the equator in sharpie or pen on each illustration Color the northern hemisphere blue and the southern hemisphere green Trace the line between night and day in sharpie or pen Lightly shade the night side with your pencil Color the sun and the rays that point toward earth Draw a circle in sharpie or pen on the line of latitude where the sun is shining most directly in each illustration Label the two positions that are solstices and the two positions that are equinoxes At solstice positions, label which hemisphere has the longest days in each illustration

6 Seasons Investigation
You will be working with your hip partner for this investigation. 1. Go to Mrs. Burke’s webpage and click on Unit 7: Earth, Moon, Sun. Find today’s date and click on the link for the Season Simulator. 2. Take about 10 minutes to familiarize yourself with the simulation by exploring what each box shows, the different ways you can manipulate the simulation, and the different labels you can add/remove.
