2 Excellence Versus Mediocrity
Excellence means: The state, quality, or condition of excelling; superiority. Something in which one excels. Mediocrity means: The state or quality of being mediocre. Moderate to inferior in quality; ordinary. Average.

4 Daniel – A Man of an Excellent Spirit
 3Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm. 4Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.

5 How did Daniel Have an Excellent Spirit?
 17As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. Daniel 1:20  20And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

6 How did Daniel Have an Excellent Spirit?
1. He dedicated his life for the Lord. 2. He had a hunger for God and knowledge He made a decision not to be defiled by the world He had an outstanding walk before the Lord He openly declared and lived his faith God gave him favor He refused to allow anything to stop his prayer life.

7 The Pursuit of Excellence
Philippians 3:14  14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Colossians 3:23-24  23And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;  24Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

8 Mediocrity Is Your Enemy
God wants to remove mediocrity from our lives. We, the Christians, learn the practical steps to overcome the enemy called “average” and develop our attitudes to excel in all that we do.
