Setup verse on Handout Zech. 5:6-11 And I said, "What is it?" And he said, "This is the ephah going forth." Again he said, "This is their appearance in all the land 7(and behold, a lead cover was lifted up); and this is a woman sitting inside the ephah." 8Then he said, "This is Wickedness!" And he threw her down into the middle of the ephah and cast the lead weight on its opening. 9Then I lifted up my eyes and looked, and there two women were coming out with the wind in their wings; and they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heavens. 10And I said to the angel who was speaking with me, "Where are they taking the ephah?" 11Then he said to me, "To build a temple for her in the land of Shinar [Babylon]; and when it is prepared, she will be set there on her own pedestal.“ 12/3/2018 David Tye

15
Overview of Rev 17&18 In Rev 17 Babylon is seen as the mother of Harlots in its religious character climaxing in a world religion which seems to fit the first half of the 7 year tribulation preceding Christ’s second coming. It also records the destruction of this Babylon by the 10 kings & the beast (Rev 17:16). In Rev 18 Babylon is seen as a great city of political/commercial power, the seat of power of the great world empire which will dominate the second half of the last seven years before Christ’s return. 12/3/2018 David Tye
16

Rev 17:1 And one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying, "Come here, I shall show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2with whom the kings of the earth committed acts of immorality, and those who dwell on the earth were made drunk with the wine of her immorality." 3And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness; and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns. Jeremiah 3:6 Then the LORD said to me in the days of Josiah the king, "Have you seen what faithless Israel did? She went up on every high hill and under every green tree, and she was a harlot there. 6And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. And when I saw her, I wondered greatly. 7And the angel said to me, "Why do you wonder? I shall tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. 8"The beast that you saw was and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and to go to destruction. And those who dwell on the earth will wonder, whose name has not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast, that he was and is not and will come.
