Jefferson barely defeated Aaron Burr Jefferson believed in a federal government with very little power Jefferson reduced the national debt and lowered taxes

Louisiana Territory stretched from Mississippi River to Rocky Mts. Jefferson bought the Territory from Napoleon for $15 million Doubled the size of the United States
