3
Lab objective: To reaffirm the concepts learned in Notes 2.1.
To obtain data that will allow the calculation of displacement, velocity, speed, and acceleration. To use the collected data to create position vs time graphs, velocity vs time graphs, and acceleration vs time graphs.
4
Lab Set-Up: Mark 30 yards in increments of 10 yards.
Take 4 stop watches. Get in teams of 5.
5
Performing the lab: Have one group member agree to run from the starting mark to the 30 yard mark and back. Position the remaining group members at the starting mark, 10 yard mark, 20 yard mark, and 30 yard mark with stop watches. Mark the time it takes to cross the 10 yard mark, 20 yard mark, and 30 yard mark, and back again.
6
Calculations: Use the formulas for displacement, speed, velocity, and acceleration found in 2.1 Notes.
7
Graphing: Create a position vs time graph.
Create a velocity vs time graph. Create a acceleration vs time graph.
