1 Ms. Bullock 8th Grade Science Lesson Plans
Week of December 18-22 * Lessons Plans are subject to change to teacher’s discretion

2 Monday, December 18, 2017 Standard: 8.E.6A.2 Analyze and interpret data from index fossil records and the ordering of rock layers to infer the relative age of rocks and fossils. 8.E.5A.4 Construct explanations for how the theory of plate tectonics accounts for (1) the motion of the lithospheric plates, (2) the geologic activities at plate boundaries, and (3) the changes in landform areas over geologic time. Objective: SWBAT construct a model to demonstrate their understanding of dating fossils, and the theory of plate tectonics. Classwork: Turn in 2nd Nine Weeks Exam Results Sheet Test Corrections due today. No exceptions ( by , GC, REMIND, or in class on paer) Performance Tasks 2-3 Project Pass Back Papers Homework: Performance Task 2-3 Project due Tuesday, December 19; I will give you the first 20 minutes of class tomorrow to finish this assignment

3 Monday, December 18, 2017 These papers you may keep:
Rock/Minerals Checkpoint Any Warm ups

4 Tuesday, December 19, 2017 Standard: 8.E.6A.2 Analyze and interpret data from index fossil records and the ordering of rock layers to infer the relative age of rocks and fossils. Classwork: 20 minutes to finish Performance Tasks 2-3 Project Performance Tasks 2-3 Project Due and Presentation Homework: N/A

5 Wednesday, December 20, 2017 Standard: 8.E.5B.3 Define problems that may be caused by a catastrophic event resulting from plate movements and design possible devices or solutions to minimize the effects of that event on Earth’s surface and/or human structures. Objective: SWBAT construct and present a model to demonstrate their understanding of dating fossils, and the theory of plate tectonics. Classwork: San Francisco Earthquake History SLO Portfolio Day Homework: N/A

6 SLO Portfolio Set up All of these paper need to be in the SLO Portfolio. Rock Cycle Stations Rock Cycle Homework Plate Tectonic Interaction Chart Fault Model Worksheet Continental Drift with Analysis Questions 2nd Nine Weeks Exam Result Sheet Who Am I? Plate Tectonic Vocabulary Fossils and Geologic Time Homework

7 Thursday, December 21, 2017 Standard: 8.E.5A.4 Construct explanations for how the theory of plate tectonics accounts for (1) the motion of the lithospheric plates, (2) the geologic activities at plate boundaries, and (3) the changes in landform areas over geologic time. Objective: SWBAT understand the theory of plate tectonics and how continental drift and sea floor spreading connect to the theory. Classwork: Bill Nye Video: Plate Tectonics Homework: N/A
